Terry is the daughter of an Army officer and grew up in the military, moving from Army post to Army post. 

 

Because she has mechanical ability and grew up around a lot of military equipment, she became interested in software development because it enabled precise control over machinery. After graduating from the University of Michigan, she was able to begin her career in 2&3-d graphics programming by working in the tool and die industry, later developing software that tested cardiac defibrillators down to the last byte, and as a last hurrah, developing image processing software in the auto industry.

 

Now retired, she has become interested in developing apps for mobile devices.  She chose to develop an app that teaches cursive writing because it seemed like a logical solution to the problem of whether cursive writing should even be taught.

 

"If there isn't time but people still want children to learn handwriting like they always did --- give them an app!" says she.
